Parquet staining and toning
A new colour for the wood without covering its structure.
To change the natural colour of a wooden board or a parquet floor without covering the structure of the wood, it is coated with a solution of a particular dye, acid, base or metal salt. These solutions are known as stains, and the process as staining.
Applied to a surface that has been prepared beforehand, the stain soaks deeper or less deep into the pores without clogging them and without hiding the texture of the wood. With some stains the texture stands out even more clearly.
