Parquet lacquering
The whole look of a parquet floor depends on how the lacquer is applied.
Lacquering a parquet floor is a step that should never be underestimated. After a professional job there are no bare patches on the floor and no build-up of lacquer either.
How many coats
- 2coats at least on oak parquet
- 3coats on beech parquet
- 3coats are a must on floorboards
Water-based lacquers are always applied in three coats. Applying primer also counts as lacquering.
Intermediate sanding
Many customers skip this step. When lacquer goes on, the grain of the wood rises. Intermediate sanding removes the raised grain and leaves the floor exceptionally smooth.
Intermediate polishing of the lacquer is not an extra – it is part of the price of lacquering.
